take them to half price books!

I didn’t think of that

It’s too late, they are already in the trash with all the smelly stuff where stink livessssss.

:( :( :(

Now I feel awful, someone could have enjoyed the ones that were in better shape. I could have taken them to a nursing home, the hospital or the book drive deposit box too.

(I love Nynaeve, and this is a great scene to break on)

I am obsessive about not cracking the spines of my books but this is what reading thick paperbacks 10+ times does. Actually, one of the hardbacks might look worse. xD

This is my original set of Wheel of Time books. As you can see, Lord of Chaos kind of fell apart on me, son. I guess that must be my favorite? I don’t know. Tor Binding is notoriously crappy, but it did hold up well for 4-5 reads. These books have traveled all over the midwest with me, there and back again. Bilbo and Jane Farstrider would be proud.

It’s time to finally say goodbye because year before last my husband bought me an entire new set for Christmas and I re-read them then but still clung to the old and faithfuls. Now I am going to… throw… them… a-…way? I feel like it’s almost sacrilege. Tossing the works of Jordan in the rubbish bin, what’s wrong with me? WHO EVEN AM I ANYMORE?

But I need the space on my bookshelves so bad. I am stacking them on their sides and in front of each other for extra room.

I was so torn… Then behind my back, just after I had taken these pictures, the husbeast took my choices away from me and threw them out. Took them all the way out to the can behind the garage so that I would be less tempted to dumpster dive after them.

He thinks it’s a bit odd that I photographed the books I was about to throw away.

IT’S ROBERT JORDAN. I NEED TO KEEP A MEMOIR. THESE BOOKS HAVE BEEN A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE.

Birth Control in Fantasy: A Guide.
Realm of the Elderlings: wizardwood navel ring
Tortall: magic charm
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms: godwords
Terre D’Ange: divine intervention
Valdemar: potions
One thing I noticed is that fantasy birth control tends to be infallible. Does anyone know any that isn’t? (Not including historical methods, just typically magical author-created methods.)

I feel like you should mention herbs. Because you forgot Heartleaf Tea from Wheel of Time. There was some herb in the Mists of Avalon too, but I can’t remember if that was an abortifacient or if it was a contraceptive.
Or Cersei Lannister’s method of getting Robert Baratheon drunk and then eating his semen in A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones series. That seems to be pretty effective. Does that even count? LOL
When I read that scene I was all

quickly followed with

Oh sweet penis in my mouth that just happened. THAT JUST HAPPENED.

The Wheel of Time turns.

weepformanetheren:

In one Age, called the third age by some, an Age yet to come, an age long pass, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

Happy New Years, Tumblr. It’s not the beginning, but it’s a beginning.

It’s only 6:30pm here, but this needs to be reblogged. <3

On the right, the same for Rand al’Thor (source)

These are so great I just had to share. I’d seen the Mat one before, but not Rand! I especially love Rand’s two official summonses to the Amyrlin Seat ;D

This is fucking brilliant.
